This fascinating tour will be led by two gentlemen from M Salt Ltd, a family-run firm specialising in the conservation, renovation and repair of ancient, listed and protected buildings and monuments.
The company has worked with organisations including English Heritage and the National Trust and has extensive experience in traditional building skills such as timber-frame repairs, masonry conservation, historic flooring, roofing, leadwork and blacksmithing. During the tour, our hosts will share their knowledge of the specialist materials, tools and traditional techniques used to preserve Britain’s historic buildings.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view an impressive and extensive collection of vintage machinery, learn about how the machines were used and hear the stories behind them. This promises to be a particularly interesting visit for anyone with an interest in local history, traditional craftsmanship, engineering, architecture or industrial heritage.
