As 2024 draws to a close, we can’t help but look back on what has been an extraordinary year for the Mid-Wales Vintage Machinery Club (MWVMC). From record-breaking achievements to heartwarming moments, this year has truly been one for the books.
Highlights of 2024
- Adventures Across Mid-Wales: This year, we traveled far and wide, enjoying incredible trips that brought members together and celebrated our shared passion for vintage machinery.
- A Record-Breaking Vintage Rally: Our annual Vintage Rally was a standout event once again, breaking attendance and fundraising records. This event continues to grow, and we’re so grateful to everyone who made it such a success.
- Inspirational Speakers: Throughout the year, we’ve welcomed a lineup of fantastic speakers at our meetings who shared their expertise, experiences, and stories, enriching our club’s community.
- Raising Over £10,000 for Charity: Perhaps our proudest accomplishment, we raised an extraordinary sum for local charities and causes. This is the largest amount the MWVMC has ever raised in a single year, and it’s all thanks to the incredible support of our members, their families and friends, visitors to our rally, and the wider community.
- The Game Change Project in Aberhasef received a grant of £3,500 to support its work with young people.
- The Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, located at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, was awarded £2,620 to enhance its efforts in improving the lives of individuals affected by cancer.
- Ponthafren, operating in Newtown, Welshpool, and Llanidloes, was granted £2,500 to support its initiatives in promoting positive mental health.
- True Animal Rescue, based in Montgomery, received £1,000 to aid its mission of rescuing and caring for homeless animals.
- The Montgomeryshire branch of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution was given £650 to assist members of the agricultural community facing hardship.
As a not-for-profit organisation, everything we do is driven by a love for vintage machinery and the joy it brings to people of all ages. This year’s achievements remind us how special and impactful our club can be.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The excitement doesn’t stop here! We already have plenty of plans in motion for the coming year:
- Exciting Trips and Talks: We’ve lined up more adventures and inspiring speakers to keep our meetings fresh and engaging.
- 2025 Vintage Rally: Preparations for our next rally are already underway, and we’re aiming to make it our biggest and best yet. Building on the lessons and successes of the past few years, we’re ready to take the 2025 rally to new heights.
